Spirit Egg was an artistic meditation on the spirits we house in our bodies during pregnancy, and the immense power alive in this process. Born or unborn. It was a meditation on Kim’s own experience through pregnancy loss. It was the grief and challenges of others longing to become parents. It was you becoming parents. It was the egg’s beginning inside the grandmother’s womb. It was the energy of every star. It was the birth, death, and the grief that lies in both experiences.

Watercolor as a medium perfectly captures the surrender of these transitions. It begs the artist to let go, and to let the wild beauty unfold.

The pulp used to build a Spirit Shade contains specific wishes and prayers written on paper that is torn and soaked for days in jars along with stones, flower petals, and essential oils. These high vibe globs are mixed with various forms of recycled paper that is pulped then sculpted into artful opaque forms resembling high desert adobe.
